In commemoration of Mandela Day, which is all about demonstrating a spirit of giving back, and making a difference in the life of others, in honour of the Late Nelson Mandela who said, “There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to helping others without expecting anything in return”.
With this thinking in mind the various Eazi Access teams across South Africa got together in their respective areas to make a difference across a range of different environments. From education, to orphanages, to animal shelters, right through to a beach clean-up, the Eazi Access team gave their time and a range of different donations.
One such donation, saw Eazi Access donating a Linde H30 end-of-life unit to Sol-Tech, an accredited, private vocational training college that is founded on Christian values and uses Afrikaans as a medium of instruction. Their institution offers state-of-the-art facilities comparable to any other similar facilities anywhere in the world. These include welding facilities, engine rebuild, electrical wiring, hydraulics, automation, and PLC controls, etc. These are just some of the many areas of training, developing young students into master tradesman for the future. Their vocational training provides students with nationally recognized, usable qualifications.
Our on-going relationship with Sol-Tech was motivated by the demand for skills such as trained apprentices and qualified Millwrights, Diesel Mechanics, and Electricians to join Eazi Access to be further trained as technicians of the future.
In March this year, Eazi Access joined Sol-Tech and Solidarity, for a Trade Day. This was the first ever event hosted by Sol-Tech, with the aim of connecting customers, students, exhibitors, and tradesmen. Eazi Access was very proud to be one of the first-choice companies invited to join the event.
We as Eazi Access felt that by making this machine donation, it will challenge the students to not only learn about the end cycle of a machine but find root cause and interventions in a similar scenario.
According to Eazi Access Chief Business Development Officer, Karl Thorington, “This is a smart initiative to get up and coming technicians to learn on our end-of-life fleet. We are excited about our partnership with Sol-Tech and we are intentional about changing lives in the communities. Sol-Tech was very happy with the Linde H30 donation, and they were amazed at the good condition this unit was in, even after 26 000 hours.”
Continuing with the theme of the Gift of Giving… the Johannesburg Sales Team led by Alichea Spamers went to visit and support the St Janes Chantal Home.
This is a non-profit institution taking care of HIV positive and abandoned children. They mostly arrive at the home undernourished and even traumatized. The home provides these children with food, shelter, education and basic medical care.
Children who have been rejected by society are cared for in a loving family environment where their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs are met. St Janes Chantal Home has a range of children within their care, from 6-month-old babies to teenagers of up to 15 years old.
The Johannesburg team got together to donate a washing machine, food and clothing to the children at the home and spent special time with these children.

This joy of giving spanned across province borders too, seeing our Richards Bay team driving two very important activities. The first was an organised beach clean-up initiative. There are a multitude of incredible organisations doing great work to eradicate plastics from our beaches and oceans. The common drive amongst all is the drive to change human behaviour and minimise the negative impact on our environment. Being coastal based, the Richards Bay team decided this was a worthy cause. They gathered as a team cleaning our beaches and making a difference, knowing every little bit helps. The second initiative the Richards Bay team decided on was time given to the SPCA, assisting them with various maintenance jobs around their facility to better improve their environment for themselves as well as for their animals. Again, a very worthy cause.
The kind-heartedness extended across many other Eazi Access teams who participated in our Making Winter Eazi drive by donating blankets, non-perishable food and clothing to various charities. It is always heart-warming when one takes one step of kindness to change the world one step at a time.
