Preparations are well underway for the highly anticipated annual Road Freight Association (RFA) Convention, set to be held from May 24 to 26 at the Arabella Hotel & Spa near Hermanus in the Western Cape.
Organisers are gearing up for a dynamic gathering of industry leaders, experts, and enthusiasts, promising a programme packed with innovation, insights, and networking opportunities.
“The road freight sector in South Africa is no stranger to significant challenges, making collaboration and collective action crucial in successfully navigating the road ahead,” says RFA CEO Gavin Kelly. “The annual conference provides a necessary platform for our members to gather, exchange ideas, and chart the course for collective growth and innovation.”
With television presenter Jeremy Maggs anchoring the event as MC, confirmed speakers include RFA Chairman Penwell Lunga and Kelly, who is set to deliver his annual CEO address. Neo Ralefeta from Investec Business will shed light on the latest economic dynamics in the country. With 2024 being an election year, it’s imperative to glean insights from political analyst Ongama Mtimka, who will offer vital guidance to the road freight sector with a political pulse check.
Devon Palanee, Executive Director at Athena, will share how the power of B-BBEE compliance spends can be unleashed, while Louise Wiggett, founder and managing director of Global Trade Solution, will unveil the potential and benefits of becoming an authorised economic operator. Professor Jan Havenga from the University of Stellenbosch will delve into the imperative for efficient logistics in South Africa.
Liesl De Wet, Chairperson: RFA Green Transport, will give insight into the ongoing transition towards greener transport and alternative fuels, and Gerhard Marais will address the critical importance of enhancing security measures within the trucking industry.
