MAN Truck & Bus South Africa returned from SA Auto Week 2026 with significant recognition for both its products and people, securing top honours in all three categories for which it was nominated at the prestigious NAAMSA Accelerator Awards.

Hosted in Durban as part of NAAMSA’s ongoing showcase of South Africa’s key automotive hubs, SA Auto Week brought together
government leaders, industry stakeholders, OEMs, suppliers, and mobility experts to discuss the future of the country’s automotive
sector.

MAN Truck & Bus is one of Europe’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers and transport solution providers, with an annual revenue of just under 11 billion euros (2021). The company’s product portfolio includes vans, trucks, buses/coaches and diesel and gas engines along with services related to passenger and cargo transport. MAN Truck & Bus is a company of TRATON GROUP and employs more than 34,000 people worldwide.

The event also marked an important milestone for MAN Truck & Bus South Africa, with newly appointed Managing Director Andrew O’Brooks attending SA Auto Week for the first time. During the week, O’Brooks engaged with South Africa’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Hon. Parks Tau, in discussions focused on MAN’s current performance, ongoing investments, and long-term ambitions within the South African market.

The highlight of the week came on Thursday, 15 October, when the automotive industry gathered for the annual 2026 naamsa Accelerator Awards Dinner, which recognises exceptional achievement across the South African automotive industry.
MAN Truck & Bus South Africa was nominated in three categories and emerged victorious in each of them:

▪ Job Creator Award
▪ Commercial Vehicle Achiever Award for the MAN TGX
▪ Bus of the Year

The company is particularly proud of the Commercial Vehicle Achiever Award, which recognised the MAN TGX for achieving the highest sales growth within its segment. The award reflects growing customer confidence in the TGX range and highlights the strength of MAN’s product offering in South Africa.

“This achievement is the result of a collective effort across the business,” said Andrew O’Brooks, Managing Director of MAN Truck & Bus South Africa. “From product development and engineering to sales, aftersales, operations, and our dealer network, this award demonstrates what can be achieved when an organisation works together with a clear focus on delivering transport solutions that meet the needs of South African customers.”

Equally significant was MAN’s Bus of the Year victory, which demonstrated MAN’s dominance in the bus and coach market. The
brand has consistently been market leader for over 10 years.

The award underscores the enduring confidence that operators place in MAN’s bus products, as well as the company’s commitment to supporting the passenger transport sector.

The Job Creator Award further highlights MAN’s ongoing contribution to employment, skills development, and industrial growth in South Africa, reinforcing the company’s role as a key participant in the local automotive value chain.

The triple award success caps off a memorable week for MAN Truck & Bus South Africa and reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering innovative, efficient and customer-focused transport solutions while contributing meaningfully to South Africa’s economic growth and mobility ambitions
